Tuna Processing Center Sets New Benchmark for Digitalized Marine Industry Parks
Jun 18, 2025
The Central Tuna R&D and Processing Center, developed by COFCO Technology & Industry, sets a new standard for intelligent marine food processing. Located in Zhoushan's China Agri-Development Mingzhu Industrial Park, this state-of-the-art facility spans 32,068.01 square meters and features advanced infrastructure, including a 5,000-ton ultra-low temperature (-60°C) tuna storage and a 16,700-ton general seafood cold storage (-25°C). With an annual tuna processing capacity of 5,000 tons, the center is a cornerstone of the smart ocean economy.

Overcoming Industry Challenges
Traditional industrial logistics parks often face inefficiencies such as underutilized storage, disconnected systems, manual processes, and outdated safety measures, leading to product damage, inventory errors, and high operational costs. To address these, Technology & Industry has implemented a pioneering “Five-in-One” smart park solution, integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM), a unified digital portal, a digital twin platform, smart warehousing, and an AI-driven operations brain. This holistic approach ensures full visibility, streamlined workflows, and intelligent decision-making across the supply chain.
Core Innovations Driving Transformation
BIM Modeling: Provides a digital foundation for lifecycle management.
Unified Portal: Streamlines end-to-end business processes.
Digital Twin: Enables real-time, data-driven decisions via a 3D command center.
Smart Warehousing: Ensures precision management for ultra-low temperature storage.
AI Operations Brain: Enhances supply chain collaboration and innovation.

Measurable Impact
This digital transformation has delivered remarkable results:
60% increase in operational responsiveness
10% reduction in energy consumption
50% improvement in inventory accuracy
30% decrease in labor costs
80% boost in decision-making efficiency with precise risk warnings
A Sustainable Future for the Marine Economy
Dubbed the “Marine Granary,” the center leverages cutting-edge technology to ensure traceability and safety from ocean to table. By integrating smart solutions with the marine industry, COFCO Technology & Industry is redefining traditional fisheries while promoting sustainability and ecological harmony. This project not only strengthens the tuna supply chain but also paves the way for a thriving, technology-driven marine economy.
